Haiti - Politic : $5M for 10 towns of Northwest

Saturday, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe who visited the department in the Northwest to oversee the work of infrastructure and strengthen social projects in the region, has opportunity to talk with the population of Port-de-Paix and meet with local authorities.

During his visit to the college of the Brothers of Christian Instruction Saint-Joseph, where several thousand people waiting him, Laurent Lamothe urged the population to engage alongside the Head of State to support the political stability necessary for progress and a well-being for all.

The Head of Government took the opportunity to announce a budget of 5 million U.S. dollars for the population of North West intended to supply a "special plan" for the execution of development projects in favor of 10 municipalities of the department . This plan will help to strengthen public services, the police and the prosecutor of Port-de-Paix and will allow the consolidation of sporting facilities and the continuation in parallel of the extensive literacy program of the Government.

In the context of the fight against extreme poverty and food insecurity in the department, the Prime Minister inaugurated 2 community restaurants, each with a capacity of 500 meals a day and announced the opening of 8 others. Furthermore, it stated that the "Ti manman cheri" program will integrate an additional 7,000 mothers while PSUGO (Universal Schooling Program, Free and Compulsory) will support 15,000 new children.

The Prime Minister has inaugurated a computer lab at Lycée Tertullian Guilbaud, declared to the many students present "I can not imagine a computer lab with internet access where it's so hot. So I ordered that the latter be conditioned. I will instruct the Director of PNCS (National School Feeding Programme) for a canteen is installed in your lycée. Your school will also be provided with a bus."

Senator Lucas Saint-Vil and Deputy Louystz Amiot François who accompanied the Prime Minister on his tour, promised to discuss with their parliamentary colleagues to vote the budget recently submitted to Parliament by the government to allow the construction of the airport and the wharf of Port-de-Paix.

The Head of State also met with the Archbishop of Port-de-Paix, Mgr. Pierre Antoine Paul, for the church appropriates the constructive dialogue initiated by the Head of State. After this meeting, the two sides agreed to set up joint projects in favor of thepopulation and work to ensure a climate of peace in the department.
